Buyin' for Baby

Nov 12, 2008 +

The baby growing inside me is now the size of a baked potato. What a strange, surreal, incredible, scary thought. I'm in that in-between period, where I'm no longer feeling the nausea and tiredness of the first trimester, and a few weeks from feeling the first definitive kick from Baby HandyLuster. So, aside from the bigger belly that makes it difficult to have a restful night's sleep, I don't really feel too pregnant. I'm not worried though. I know the rest of the aches and pains will come soon enough. In the meantime, I guess I'll shop. Here's some of the things I've got my eye on. If you've had experience with any of these, I'd love to hear about it!

Phil & Ted's Sport Stroller; BabyHawk Carrier; Swaddle Me Wrap

And this, I think this would look adorable decorating the baby's room...French alphabet cards from etsy seller bibitty:

  1. I know Kal over at http://lovelife.blogspot.com uses the stroller and has posted about it before as being great!

I am loving the french alphabet. So pretty and doesn't necessarily scream boy or girl!!

  3. Awww, I'm smiling that you are using Baby HandyLuster nickname =)

The stroller is so cute! I'm interested in opinions on it. I'm glad that you are not feeling too tired and naseous.

  4. The Swaddle Me Wrap is great! We had several for our daughter who loved to be swaddled. The fuzzy fleece ones are great for wintery weather, and the cotton knit are good for summer. She loved to be pretty snug in them, though, so just a receiving blanket (or even better, waffleknit blankets) might fit better at first if Baby HandyLuster is too small for the size you buy. What fun to shop for a new baby!

  5. I just finished shopping and then picking a stroller and car seat for my brother , wow they are pricey , we had a lower end price range , but I did look at the type you like , my advice is to make sure it reclines properly for infant sleeping, as well consider if the stroller accomdates a clip in car seat , as for the 6-9 months there is nothing worse than getting to your destination with a sleeping baby in the car only to have to wake him or her up because the car seat doesn't transfer into the stroller , it is a huge plus.
The baby items are so great right now .
I saw last night some vintage looking alphabet cards at Michael's from Martha Stewart , but the ones you found are so clean and cute , I prefer yours .
    Happy Shopping

  6. Oh, I am so interested to see what kinds of things you're going to buy for the baby! My friends have started having kids, and we are thinking of it, but I know nothing about the different types of products that are out there.

For the stroller: My friend has a "Bob", which looks similar, but said she wishes she had got a Phil&Teds, because now that she has a second child, her Bob doesn't have an add-on like the Phil&Teds. (something to consider, depending on how many children, how far apart in age, etc.).

  7. Thanks for the link 20ss! I'll have to check out their review.

half of vamh - there's always time for shopping ;)

shanny - all the reviews I've read so far are positive. I'll just have to go see it in person now.

corinna - thanks for the feedback. I hadn't considered the size, so thanks for the tip on the waffleknit blankets too!

chris - the stroller does fully recline for an infant, but I don't know if it has a car seat attachment. Will have to check as my sister is lending me her Graco car seat. Thanks!

donna - the add-on feature is one of the things I like about the Phil & Teds too. I've heard the Bob strollers are great, especially for jogging. So many choices!!

  9. I am just reaching the 10 week mark with our first baby and The Miracle Blanket" ended up as the best swaddling blanket for our little escape artist who can wiggle out of anything else.

She was only sleeping 1 hour at a time in a regular receiving blanket and when she is well swaddled in this one she can sleep 5 or 6 - she is so much happier when well rested and so are we :)

    Happy shopping!

  10. You are very pre-planned about your baby, the baby must be very lucky to have mother like you. All the products which you bought are very nice and attractive. I would suggest you to use Mickey Sun Shop 'n Drive which is very fashionable and easy to handle.
