This and That

by - Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Lots going on at the HandyLuster household and no time to blog about it! We finally have a bathroom door. Well, we had one before but it was butchered by the installer... and put in backwards. Agh! So we had that fixed. Once we get a coat of paint on it, I'll take a pic.

Then there's the bedroom reno. Panelling on the wall is done - yay! But last coat of patching still needs to be sanded - boo! Carpet will be installed in two weeks - yay! But that means we have to get all the painting done (and HandyMan will have to continue sleeping on the couch till then) - boo! Then there's the ordering of the curtains, sourcing the bamboo blinds, painting of the side tables, waiting for the sconces to arrive via my American cousin, and finding supplies for my special secret project ;)

Oh, and since we were ordering bedroom carpet, we decided to order the stair runner at the same time. Which means that the painting of the spindles and handrail and now-dinged-up risers will have to be done in the next two weeks too :)

And we're busy preparing things for Chloe's first birthday party in three weeks. On that note, one little project is almost finished. Here's a sneak peek. And if I can get my adorable chair model to sit still for a second, I'll reveal it in its full yummy fabricy goodness.

  2. I can't wait to see the CHAIR! We've recently installed bamboo blinds in the bedroom...I'm still working on the curtains. I actually went to 5 stores for the bamboo and ended up with the on-the-shelf ones from Home Depot. Best look and best price in my opinion and they fit the windows. I'm so excited to see all that you are working on!

  3. WOW! You do have lots on your plate! I'm tired from just reading the to do list ;) Love the sneak peek on the chair! And a year already? WOW! Have you been to this blog? She gives plans for furniture. Folks share photos of the pieces they have built using her plans. Very cool and her plans are free! Anywho, you two are so handy thought I would mention it. Hugs from Conroe, TX!

  9. The chair is looking awesome! The colour combo is so fresh and vibrant.

Did you put up the paneling yourself or did you get an installer? I want paneling done in my new home.

    Thanks,

  12. Tara - thanks for the tip. I'll have to check out HD.

Nancy W - oh no, that site is trouble! Not sure if we can handle more projects on the list, lol.

jbhat - you'll have to wait and see. Its a little project for the bedroom (if I can find all the parts that I need!)

Liz - it was great meeting you too! Maybe we'll see you at the new Winners this week. No worries - I will be taking hundreds of photos of Chloe's birthday!

Kelly - the paint is Balmy Seas by Behr. Its such a yummy fresh robin's egg blue kind of colour.

Sarah - we are doing the panelling ourselves. Its not that difficult really (and DAP covers up a multitude of sins!).
