Doilies & Lace

by - Wednesday, November 03, 2010

My recent post about brown paper packages and how you can dress them up with doilies got me thinking about all things doily and lace. I love the DIY doily art I did for Chloe's room and still have a few more vintage doilies in my stash to use for other projects. Here's some ideas that are inspiring me...

Lace tape to pretty up your packages. From here and here.

And a doily table runner. Wish I had a harvest table just like that too!

  1. Love doilies!
I have a ton of them (full table cloths, small table toppers, doilies for the back of a chair, doily curtain, pink doilies from my dresser when I was a little girl) from my grandmother...she made the most beautiful doilies ever...

I have them all wrapped up and stored away, I wish I could find a way to incorporate them into my everyday life...

  2. Great post. I LOVE the table runner made of doilies. To think I just passed up some beauties at a flea market because I wasn't sure what I would do with them. I've had to discipline myself on my buying lately -- just getting too many things in a pile and starting to clutter my mind.

  6. When I grew up, anytime my Mother would sit down she had crochet cotton in her hands. She could whip up a doily in no time flat. There was a huge "Pineapple" doily always in the centre of our dining room table.

  7. i like them as an added touch for the gifts... other than that, I can't do doilies... I remember dusting every friday night as a teenager (before I go out w. friends) and having to pick them up, dust the dresser, shake them outside and then having to return -- too much work!

  13. I really want to patch up my couch (on the corners where the kitties have scratched) with lace doilies. I saw that done somewhere once before and it looks so cool.
