Shop Spotlight: Modern For Kids

by - Wednesday, June 01, 2011

A few weeks ago, I attended the Children's Trunk Show. I'd never been before so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. One vendor's booth caught my eye...

Modern For Kids is a shop stocked with vintage and contemporary items for kids. Rhona, who runs the shop, has a keen eye for finding unique collectibles like handmade matroyshka dolls from Russia, children's books from the 50's and 60's (I especially love the Taro Gomi books), and huge colourful vintage circus posters.

These days, you can decorate kid's rooms fairly easily with furniture and decor pieces from the likes of Ikea or Pottery Barn Kids. But when you mix these standards with personality pieces like a vintage poster, heirloom throw or antique doll inherited from a relative, they really come to life.

Here's an inspiration board I created using the Hanneford Circus Clown poster from the 1950's as the starting point...

How fun would it be to have a room so colourful and cheery? Modern For Kids has lots of pieces to inspire your own kids design so check them out! And if something does catch your eye...

Modern For Kids is offering my readers a 15% discount on all purchases (excluding shipping). Just mention Rambling Renovators in the note to the seller when you check out. Happy shopping!
