We escaped the city for a few days to enjoy sunny afternoons and cool nights up at the family cottage. The sweltering temperatures this summer have meant that the air is filled with buzzing flies and stinging mosquitos unfortunately. But we could escape to the safety of the lake...

and enjoy a cool dip. This little girl had no problem swimming around weeds and squishing her toes in the soft lake floor. Mom on the other hand realized that the older she gets, the more a City girl she becomes... I'll wear the water shoes, thank you very much.
It was good to get away and catch our breath.

Okay, back to the real world!

Sounds a like a fabulous weekend. I'm like you when it comes to needing water shoes.
ReplyDeleteThis look like such a beautiful and relaxing place! I'm with you, thinking about swimming in weeds gives me a panic attack ;)
ReplyDeleteNo, sadly no fireflies. We couldn't stay outside when it got dark... so so so many mosquitoes :(
ReplyDeleteHope your campsite is bug free Tim!
ReplyDeleteI know. Same thing with the bugs... I tried not to be so squeamish when Chloe is around.
ReplyDeleteYes you do!!
ReplyDeleteargh...i absolutely hate deer flies! Did you guys get a chance to see fireflies? They are super adorable at night! Sounds and looks like you guys are having a great time away from the city! Lucky you! It's so hot in Toronto too...omgoodness. With the water shoes...I totally get you....i do the same as well. You don't know whats under there!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fabulous place to get away from it all!
ReplyDeleteLovely cottage! Hope you all had a blast and you got in the water ok with your water shoes. Hope the flies situation die off a little when I head north for my camping trip in a couple of weeks. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteIt's good for the soul to get away and put your feet in the lake for awhile, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely time away - I love the action pics of C in the water. We have lots of family with places in cottage country in Ontario - we need to get out there sometime!
ReplyDeleteI hate squishy lake bottoms!! I am much more of an ocean girl, but looks like Chloe will be a fish in any water! Looks like your cottage time was good.
