Starting Again: Bye Home Office!

by - Monday, March 25, 2013

We've run out of rooms to renovate so we're starting all over again. I'm joking. Sort of.

Yes, this is the current state of the room that once held our home office. I know, I know, it was a hard working room that provide great space for two of us to work. But the truth is over the years, we've used that room less and less. I found myself sitting on the living room sofa working on the laptop more often than sitting at the desk.

From Home Office to Girls Bedroom

Now I have a new (and smaller) desk in the basement so this room will soon be transformed into Chloe's new bedroom. We're keeping her old room as a guest bedroom.

This new room though, with its petite proportions, will be a sweet room for a little girl to grow into. It will be fun to transform this room - out of all the rooms in the house, the office was one which we felt never really fit with our style.

Vintage and Traditional Girls Room Ideas

We renovated it on a whim and it had a very modern look compared to the rest of our house. The new room will be a bit more traditional with some vintage thrown in and added architectural details (yay, more trim work!!)

I've been brainstorming looks for this room for a long time. Here's one more idea I came up with:
vintage girls bedroom, traditional girls bedroom, pink and mint girls bedroom

1. Framework Mist fabric
2. Swan Lake wallpaper
3. Benjamin Moore Snow Day
4. Benjamin Moore Icy Purple
5. Benjamin Moore Tea Party
6. Benjamin Moore Surf's Up
7. Border Chenille Rug
8. Beragamo Black Shade Swing Arm Lamp
9. Catalina Cottage Bed Twin
10. Marbella Chandelier
11. Thrifted paintings
12. Jacquard Leaf Duvet
13. Whitney Writing Desk

It will be a challenge to pull this room together though because my client has very strong opinions (pink! purple! rainbows! twinkly lights!) so we have to find a way to make everyone happy.

Are you redecorating any rooms in your house? Do you feel like your home will never be finished? I do!

Update: see how this girl's bedroom turned out in THIS HOME TOUR
