DIY Radiator Cover In The Entry Way
After having lived with an ugly, yellowed radiator, chopped up baseboards, and a severe lack of storage for the last three years, I can tell you that my day has become 1000x more enjoyable now that I have a clean, organized entryway to come home to. This DIY radiator cover with built in storage is a big part of the reason why!
We did make improvements to the space like installing new lighting, getting a pretty striped stair runner, and replacing the front door and storm door. But without a new radiator cover, the space never felt quite right. And now it does.
HandyMan did a great job building the radiator cover. The fresh white paint on the cover and repainted baseboards really brightens up the area. This DIY radiator cover with slim design, which HandyMan fitted around the existing door trim, is functional yet visually doesn't take up much space.
Chloe loves the little built-in cubbies. Everyday we find something new stuffed in there... shoes, socks, animal finger puppets! She's now taken to pulling out her shoes and telling us exactly which ones she wants to wear that day.

And I've finally been able to put up my limited edition Catherine Ledner armadillo photograph in the entryway. I bought the photo years ago with the intention to specifically hang it here. Its been in Chloe's room up till now.
I love how the yellow & grey wallpaper background in the photo picks up on the yellow in the dining room walls and in the kitchen.

HandyMan also took some time to repaint the closet door and baseboards and spraypaint the closet door hardware black to go with the hardware in the rest of the house. Now the entryway looks clean, fresh, organized. I literally walk inside the house now and take a deep relaxing breath when I step inside.
Then...

Definitely looks MUCH better! I love the rad cover and how it matches the detail in your stair railing and trim!

What an awesome makeover! I love the color choice!
ReplyDeleteHandyman did a great job on the rad cover and the artwork looks perfect there!
ReplyDeleteLovely ... great welcoming start to your home.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great! I especially love the radiator cover and the cute print. What a nice little inviting space for guests. LOL at the "we planned to do it right away but it never happened" part. We still have paint swatches in rooms because we had planned to paint them right away.
ReplyDeleteWow, that was some ugly carpeting! Your entry way looks absolutely beautiful now! And I love that armadillo photograph!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Jennifer, love the shoes all neatly displayed!!
ReplyDeleteTalk about transformation! Looks so classic and clean now. While the pink carpet was hideous, it seems to have done a great job, kewping your wood floors in great shape.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeletewow love the transformation! it looks great--and i love that is has some storage--too cute~
ReplyDeleteIt's so crisp, fresh, and inviting now.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to cross one of those take-forever projects off the list?
:)
WOW! I would never know there is a radiator in there!
ReplyDeleteAnd being from Alabama, I cannot help but love the armadillo picture!
That really is a beautiful entry. Your husband is a very talented carpenter!
ReplyDeletewow! what a transformation! congratulations it looks great!!
ReplyDeleteSo charming but, wow, that closet is weird. Not unlike our old weird coat closet located on the stair landing and not able to accommodate a normal sized coat hanger. Maybe the whole area would be better without it and just with some built-in storage on the same wall? Floor patching would probably require professional help but it might make a huge difference!
ReplyDeleteAnd I cannot believe you ripped out that lovely carpet! :)
That little cubby is a perfect addition. Love your fresh pretty space!
ReplyDeleteWell done, Handyman! Cheers to both of you. It looks beautiful. And hey, our little one has the same shoes as Chloe's, the ones on the bottom with the little tulips and the "grassy" toes. Cute!

ReplyDeleteIt looks so great. And I love the armadillo photo!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic!! Love the cubbies incorporated into the rad cover. We all need a place to store our finger puppets ;-)

What an amazing transformation. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I too feel the woes of an odd, impractical entry closet. So this neat and tidy tiny entry makes my heart sing!
ReplyDeleteWhich leads me to my questions:
How wide is the hallway?
How wide is it now with the rad cover?
Thanks!
Amy
Lovely! So much better! I just hate awkwardly-shaped spaces like that. Our house is full of them.
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing! I really like the cut-outs on the cover - it reminds me of a moroccan pattern. Well done to both of you! x
