IDS 13

If you are a design fan and are in Toronto, then you'll want to be at the Interior Design Show this weekend. If you've never been, this is a great show to pick up design inspiration. Its not a "hot tubs and windows" kind of home show... IDS is a place to see the latest trends, home products, and design innovations (plus a design celebrity or two!). You can see my past recaps of the show here and here.

I picked out a few things at this year's show that aren't to be missed:

DESIGNBOOM MART:  Like a bazaar or indie marketplace, Designboom Mart brings 30 talented young designers together to display and sell their wares. You can buy household items, jewellery, accessories, and small furniture items direct from the designers. I think this will be the place to pick up a really cool object that nobody else has!

MODERN KID: Eight exhibitors come together to show the latest in kids rooms, nurseries, and playroom design. I have a soft spot for Stokke who'll be at the show. Chloe has a Tripp Trapp chair that she's been using since she could sit upright and it will last her into her pre-teen years. Its great to see kid-centric products that parents will love too. Christiane Lemieux of DwellStudio (who I greatly admire as a businesswoman and mother) will be in one of the booths signing books as well.

HOW DO YOU WORK?:  I always enjoy the walk-through exhibits at IDS. This year, four designers present their approach to today's concept of a work space. Since for many of us "work" means hopping onto a mobile device, the traditional office space has become obsolete. It will be interesting to see how the concept is interpreted.
