Must-Have Item: The Woven Chair

Do you ever see something in one place and then all of a sudden you start seeing it everywhere? That's how I'm feeling about the woven chair.

Design by Kelly Nutt Design
Made of rattan or wicker, with caning details or intricate rope weaves, these textural chairs lend a laid-back retro California chic vibe to whatever room you place them in. I'm not the kind to put macrame art on my walls or have succulent terrariums in every room, but this particular throwback 1970's trend is one I can definitely get behind.

1. With a gorgeous washed gray finish and a high back, this rattan chair would look at home in your beachy dining room or as a perch to read a book in your sun room
2. This chair looks just as good from the back as it does from the front
3. Affordable and sculptural, this eye-catching chair would work great on an outdoor patio
4. I would put this caned side chair in an eat-in kitchen
5. My favourite chair of the bunch, this chair also comes in a version with arms, in a pale sand colour, as a counter stool, as a comfy armchair
6. The natural fibre seat of this side chair whispers comfort while the stripe design makes it a preppy choice for kids rooms or casual spaces
7. This lounge chair would look at home in a mid Century modern living room
8. Pair the clean lines of this dining chair with a whitewashed table for a coastal look
9. This rattan chair in glossy black is sophisticated without being stuffy
10. This stylish chair is from Target? You bet!
11. A classic silhouette rendered playfully with a caned seat

Are you a fan of the woven chair look? I'm not sure it would suit the interior of our traditional city home but I think it would fit right in at the cottage or in an outdoor space.
