Best Beauty Gifts for Friends In Their 40's (or For Yourself)

One of my favourite gifts to give (and to receive) are beauty products. I use makeup every day and Sephora (where I shop for most of my makeup) has the best sales and gift sets at this time of year. If you're a Sephora VIB Member or Beauty Insider, the best deals of the holiday season are happening right now. You can get 15–20% off your favourite products before Cyber Week.

As I move into the latter half of my 40's,  I find that my beauty needs have changed. If you're shopping for a friend of a certain age (or for yourself!), here's the list of tried and true products plus a few enticing gift sets that I'll be putting in my virtual basket:

Best beauty products for women in their 40's from Sephora

  1. BITE BEAUTY Four Little Bites Amuse Bouche Lipstick Set - without fail, this is something I buy or I'm gifted with every season. Bite Beauty is my absolute favourite lipstick brand. They feature natural ingredients and a slight citrus taste. These smaller lipsticks are perfect for throwing in a purse or jean pocket.
  1. CLINIQUE Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm - stop what you're doing right now and buy this for yourself and every woman in your life. I got a very generously sized sample of this free with a previous Sephora order and I LOVE IT! I'm terrible for taking my makeup off at the end of the day and this balm handles last night's eyeliner like a breeze. It works with a simple wipe on a cotton pad, no heavy scrubbing needed.
  1. NARS Blush - NARS blush never fails. It provides just the right amount of pigment and lasts me all day. The Orgasm shade is known to work on all skin tones.
  1. URBAN DECAY Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette - I'm secretly hoping this palette will show up under the tree for me this year. My sisters have gifted me the three previous Naked palettes (Heat, Naked2, and Smoky) and I depend on them as my everyday shadows. The colours always make me feel 'on trend' (even though I'm still relying on makeup techniques from 1994, ha!)
  1. FRESH Seaberry Skin Nutrition Booster - this is yet another product I sampled which has turned into a permanent part of my beauty regimen. Once I hit my 40's, I found that my moisturizers weren't quite working the same. Just a drop of this serum is all it takes to give me back the skin of my 20 year old self. It really does give me a fresh boost!
  1. SEPHORA FAVORITES Glow For It - This sample set features favourites like Benefit's High Beam, plus a few brands like Fenty Beauty and Milk that I've been curious to try
  1. SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Foundation #47 Brush
  1. SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Concealer Brush #71 - I never realized it until just this year but a good makeup brush makes all the difference. Quality brushes help you use less makeup and apply your makeup more evenly.
  1. KAT VON D Ink Liner - a good liquid liner is hard to find. This one has great staying power and the applicator is versatile enough to draw very thin to daring thick lines
  1. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Brow Wiz - Who didn't realize that eyebrows would get thinner as you age? That would be me. I've tried quite a few eyebrow products over the past year and this one is the absolute best. It allows you to draw precise and realistic-looking individual brow hairs and lasts the entire day
  1. L'OCCITANE Holiday Hand Cream Trio - This trio of hand creams makes the sweetest gift. They're handy to have around in your purse or at your desk, wherever you need a bit of freshening up
  1. BENEFIT COSMETICS ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Eyebrow Color with Brush - For a more dramatic evening look, I love this eyebrow gel. It's easy to apply you only need a little bit to achieve a full look
  1. TOO FACED Shadow Insurance - This is one of those products I never knew I needed until I tried it. With this underneath my eyeshadow, my makeup look lasts all day
Are there any beauty products that you rely on? I love hearing about what others can live without!
