Furniture I’ve Owned for Years (and Would Buy Again From Wayfair Canada)

I’ve never been one to replace furniture often. In fact, the first piece of grown-up furniture I ever bought, my dining table and chairs, is still in our home 25 years later.

I tend to choose pieces I can live with for years and then refresh how I style them as my home evolves. For me, the goal has always been to build a home that feels layered and lived-in, not trendy or constantly changing just for the sake of something new.

Wayfair Canada has long been one of my trusted sources for home decor and furniture. I love their wide selection of products and ease of shipping. Furniture can be a bit of an investment and you want to make sure to purchase quality pieces that will stand the test of time. Here are the Wayfair Canada furniture and decor pieces I’ve lived with, use daily, and would confidently buy again.

A Mirror That Makes the Room Feel Inviting

The arched mirror above our fireplace is one of those pieces that quietly changes the way a room feels without ever trying too hard.

It reflects light into the space, makes the mantel feel intentionally styled, and somehow pulls everything around it into a more cohesive whole. I’ve played with what sits underneath it, decorated it for the seasons, and each time it still feels right, like it was meant to be there.

This isn’t a trendy accent that needs to be replaced often. It’s the kind of decorative piece that elevates the entire space without shouting for attention, and that’s exactly the kind of item I find myself coming back to again and again.

I've paired the mirror with a metal chevron fireplace screen. Together these pieces add warmth to the neutral space and give the fireplace a sophisticated presence.

Entryway Furniture That Set the Tone

The entryway is one of the hardest-working spaces in a home, so choosing practical, durable entryway furniture really matters.

This lovely side table? I've bought it three times, I love it so much! I've used it as a bedside table but it also works perfectly here at the front door.

The storage drawers gives me a place to drop keys or tuck things away, and I can style the top with flowers or objects depending on the time of year. Paired with the mirror, it makes the entry feel intentional without being overdone or crowding the space.

I love the curves of this mirror. It feels very modern against the traditional moulding on the walls. This mirror comes in many sizes and is a really versatile piece. I've also used it in our primary bedroom, and it would work just as well in a bathroom over a sink.

I like choosing entryway pieces that quietly set the tone for the rest of our home. These are simple, classic, and still feel just as right now as they did when I first brought them home.

A Desk That Blends In (In A Good Way!)

This desk lives in our living room, right by the front window. A console table would work just as well, but a desk adds storage and functionality.

I chose it because it didn’t scream “home office” and the deep blue colour livens up our neutral space. The desk works as a functional workspace when I need it, but also blends into the room when I don’t.

Instead of a chair or bench, I've used storage ottomans below. They can be used as a footrest for the armchair, provide additional seating in a pinch, and tuck away nicely when not in use.

Over the years, I’ve styled the desk with books, plants, and seasonal accents to keep it feeling fresh without replacing the furniture itself. That flexibility is what makes it a piece I’d buy again.

The Rug That Grounds the Room

Rugs do a lot of heavy lifting in a home, and this one has been a great foundation in our dining room.

I tried so many rugs in this room. But they proved to be too boring, too heavy, or a mismatch with the patterned wallpaper and classic moulding.

This jute and cotton rug, natural but not boring, is just what the room needed. It works across seasons, holds up to foot traffic, and makes it easy to refresh the space with smaller changes like table styling or decor.

The great thing about rugs is that you can move them from room to room for a whole new look. When I think about keeping a home feeling fresh without constantly replacing furniture, rugs are always part of that strategy.

Why I’d Buy These Furniture Pieces Again

When I look at the furniture I’ve kept the longest, a few things stand out:
  • They’ve held up over time
  • They still feel relevant as my style evolves
  • They’re easy to refresh seasonally
  • They get used, not just admired
That’s what makes them worth recommending.

Buying furniture I can keep long-term has made decorating (and budgeting) easier over the years. Instead of starting from scratch every season, I focus on small changes that keep our home feeling fresh without constant replacement.
