One of my favourite features of our house is the trim and moulding we've added throughout. We have  wainscot in the living room, beadboard in the basement bathroom, a board and batten treatment in the bedroom... can you tell we love trimwork??

Moulding is often overlooked but its a very easy way to make an ordinary wall extraordinary. Like the mini-mudroom in the basement stairwell. This 2' wide space used to be forgettable, but now, when you see it, you stop and take notice of this little nook. The beadboard, the casing around the milk-door-turned mailbox, the hooks on the rails - small details that combined add up to an interesting space. Moulding can do that.
