How To Keep Your House Cleaner

by - Monday, June 25, 2018

I'll be honest, cleaning my house is one of those things I do begrudgingly. Not that I keep a messy house. It's just that dusting or cleaning bathrooms and other household tasks have never been things that I've looked forward too. Well, I can finally say there is one task that is the the exception and it might be the reason I can keep my house cleaner.

Dyson has just introduced its newest technology, the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute cord-free vacuum. When they asked if I'd like to have one to try out, I jumped at the chance. Our current corded vacuum is a Dyson and I love it but I was curious... could a cord-free version really be much of an improvement?

I have to say this vacuum is a game changer. One of the things that kept me from vacuuming regularly was the hassle of dragging the vacuum around the house. We have two flights of our stairs in our house and we have no room on our main floor to store the vacuum so it's always been kept in a closet in the basement.  For anyone who's ever lugged a corded vacuum up and down the stairs you know it's something you want to avoid at all costs, ha!

Vacuuming our main floor was super easy. We have a mix of tile, hardwood, and carpet, plus upholstered furniture on this floor. The vacuum comes with a variety of cleaner heads and a stick attachment so I was able to handle any situation.

With a complete redesign and smaller yet more powerful V10 digital motor, the Dyson Cyclone V10 combines traditional full-size suction power with the versatility and convenience of a cord-free vacuum. Here's a few things I like about it already:

  • It's lightweight. I had no problem carrying or moving it from room to room. You do have to keep your finger on the trigger while using the vacuum but it wasn't cumbersome or tiring
  • Different attachments for different uses. I was able to use the specific attachment (e.g. the crevice tool for our wall moulding, the mini soft dusting brush for our window blinds) and get a better clean.
  • Ease of design. It's easy to change between attachments with just a click. As well, the 'point and shoot' release makes emptying the bin simple, without having to touch the dirt.

On one charge, I was able to vacuum our living room and stairs. It can run up to 60 minutes on a full charge, dependent on the power mode. You can plug in the unit or drop it into the wall-mounted dock for recharging.

The long stick attachment and sleek swivel head made it very easy to get into those awkward spots like under my desk. The popcorn evidence tells me there was a 9 year old watching YouTube videos in my office ;)

Now that we have a cord-free vacuum, our only question is where to store it.  The smaller footprint means it can go just about anywhere. I'm thinking we'll mount the dock in our front hall closet for easy access to all floors.

If you're considering a new vacuum, I can't recommend the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute enough. I think it's everything a vacuum should be: easy to use, light, and powerful, without the hassle of having to deal with cords! It really has started to help us keep our house cleaner.
