Christmas Bedroom Decor Made Simple

The Christmas decorating continues around here. On Monday, I shared the living room and today I wanted to share the simple touches we've made in our bedroom. In these more private spaces, I tend to decorate more 'wintry' than obviously 'Christmassy' but it's still a cozy seasonal look. But first, let me show the Christmas garland for the stairs.

Staircase Christmas Garland

The Christmas garland for the stairs is a decoration I look forward to putting together every year. I think garlands look especially beautiful draped on a stair handrail. You can really give your stairs a unique look. Last year, I decorated with country gingham and the year prior was a more sophisticated look. This year, I've gone with a layered and textured stair garland.

I decided that this year I would use a faux magnolia garland. Typically, I've mixed real garlands with faux but I was decorating so early in the season, I knew that I would have a carpet of dry pine needles by the time Christmas rolled around.

I mixed the magnolia with a cascading silver spray, chocolate brown satin ribbon, pinecones, and aged brass bells. I did tuck a live juniper branch I had for an added bit of texture. Collectively, these items feel textured and rich. It's creates a pretty look for our stairs.

Now let's head up those stairs to the bedroom!

Simple Christmas Bedroom Decor

Our Christmas bedroom decor is simple yet cozy. The decorations in the public areas of our home, like the dining and living room, are lively and luxe, but for our private spaces, I like things calm and quiet. Christmas decorations don't need to be elaborate... you just need a few to add charm and interest.

You'll notice all these photos were taken with the table lamps lit. The days are so short now and we've had a few winter storms lately which have meant dark days that are terrible for photography. But I hope you like these photos. The lamp light really does convey that soft, cozy feeling we have in this room.

I haven't really shared much about this room since we renovated it for the One Room Challenge in the spring of 2018. I don't change things too much around here but a simple swap of accessories has us ready for the season.

On this side of the room, I've put our Gray Malin The Match print back above the dresser. I switch it out during the summer, but this wintry snow polo scene is right for this time of year. A pair of topiaries and a moose, complete with ribbon bows, are enough to lend a holiday touch.

This view of our room hasn't changed much. The sepia botanical prints and pinstripe bench are classic and work well throughout the entire year. The arched mirror is a new addition and picks up on the other wood tones in the room.

Our bed is so comfortable these days. The Leesa mattress continues to be a dream and I've switched out our lighter bedding for the flannel duvet cover and shams. I recently switched to a King duvet insert inside our Queen duvet cover and it fits so much better and looks fuller. No more floppy, loose duvet edges! Plaid pillow covers and a windowpane plaid blanket add even more seasonal pattern.

I like how the wreaths hanging on the outside of our windows add to our indoor decor. We get to appreciate the details like the buffalo plaid ribbons and remote-controlled candles from the comfort of the indoors.

I don't like a cluttered night table so I've added just a few small wintery details to my side of the room like a tiny vase with a sprig of juniper and the polished silver Santa I've had for almost 20 years.  A wool blanket, quilted slippers, and a plush rug keep things cozy.

A scented candle and a faux tree dress up Sean's nightstand. Above our bed, I've hung a white berry wreath. I usually use it to decorate the Christmas tree, but it provides a nice, neutral accent in this room.

Simple, warm, and wintry. I hope you've enjoyed this tour of our bedroom decorated for Christmas. I have a few more spaces around our home to show you next week!
